Moroccan passport photo

Glasses: Only clear (white) lenses are permitted. Reflections of light on the glasses are not allowed.

Head coverings: All facial features, from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead, must be fully visible.

Expression & pose: Neutral expression with a closed mouth and no smile. The head must be straight, facing the camera directly, with the face centred in the photo.

Children & infants: Young children must be photographed alone, without any other person or object in the frame.

1. Take or choose a photo shot straight on, from about arm's length or further, in even light with no shadow falling on the face or the wall behind it. Phone selfies taken close up distort the face and are a common rejection reason.
2. Stand far enough from the wall that you cast no shadow on it. The background needs to be uniform sky blue or light grey — the tool fills only the area outside your photo's edges, it does not replace the wall behind you.
3. Drop the photo into the tool above. Nothing is uploaded; the file is read directly by your browser.
4. Drag the blue marker to the very top of the head, including hair, and the red marker to the bottom of the chin. This is the measurement every official spec is written against.
5. Download the photo, or generate a print sheet if you need physical copies.
6. Morocco asks for 2 identical prints. Use the print sheet option and cut along the guide lines — print at 100% scale so the millimetre sizes stay correct.

Drawn from the official guidance rather than guesswork. Most rejections are not about dimensions at all:

• Stains or ink marks on the photo
• Background not a uniform sky-blue or light-grey
• Head tilted or not facing the camera directly
• Smiling or a non-neutral expression
• Tinted lenses or glare on glasses
• Face partly covered by a head covering worn for a non-religious reason
• Other people or objects visible in a young child's photo

More than one official source publishes a figure for this, and they do not match. Both are shown rather than one being picked silently:

• Background colour: One source says Uniform sky blue or light grey. Another says White or light blue.

When this happens, the office that will receive your application is the authority worth asking. Neither of us can resolve a contradiction in their own documentation.

A Moroccan Passport Photo is 35 × 45 mm — about 1.38 × 1.77 inches. The background must be uniform sky blue or light grey.

DGSN's own passeport.ma portal publishes a dedicated photo-standards PDF ('Normes pour les photographies') covering background colour, expression and glasses rules, but it states no numeric print size. The 35 x 45 mm figure shown here comes instead from the Moroccan Embassy in Canberra, which also gives a different background answer — white or light blue rather than the DGSN portal's sky blue or light grey — so that disagreement is recorded as a conflict below. Confirm exact print size and background colour with your consulate before printing photos.
